Pleil
Wolkersdorf in the wine district
Winegrowing has been practiced in the Pleil family for generations. Christian Pleil graduated from the wine school in Klosterneuburg. It was always clear to him that wine would be his profession. And so he gained experience and knowledge during internships in Germany, California, South Africa and Australia before he took over his parents’ winery in Wolkersdorf. All this enables a reflective look at the treasures of one’s own environment. As a result, Grüner Veltliner enjoys the status of being an adorned variety, which accounts for around 45 percent of the vineyard area. Chardonnay and Riesling are also important white wine varieties, while Zweigelt dominates the red wines. Christian Pleil promotes a crystal clear and refreshing style of wine – from a light entry-level wine as a starter to a more complex reserve.
