The history of the Autrieth winery dates back to 1725. Today the family cultivates around 20 hectares of the best vineyards along the hilly border area with the Czech Republic. The philosophy of the winemaker is the production of high-quality wines by including – and by supporting – natural processes (soil, humus, earthworms…) in the vineyard and in the cellar. The loamy-sandy “red wine islands” in Hadres, which come from the primordial sea, help the winemaker create very complex, full-bodied red wines that are very satisfying, especially with the use of specific wood and long storage life. With white wine , the winemaker is always looking for the specifics of the wine variety, especially with the flagship variety in the Weinviertel, the Grüner Veltliner, as well as with Riesling and Muskateller. The winery is also one of the largest sweet wine producers in the Weinviertel.
I was born in 1974. I’ve matured a bit, but haven’t reached my peak yet. The ground on which I grew was often rocky and hard. The soils in Hadres, where I have my roots, gave me a good grip and enough potential to mature. In combination with a good meal, I often make people enthusiastic…
